Grants for Writers
Whether you’re a poet, a short story writer, or you pen science fiction, historical fiction, non-fiction, or any other genre, you know that there is nothing more satisfying than getting your words and ideas down on paper. It’s truly incredible to see your thoughts come to life; however, writing – particularly for those who have just decided to turn their craft into a business – most certainly isn’t a money making venture. While it’s true that some authors do make big bucks, it takes a lot of hard work, dedication, and often times sheer luck, to see financial riches. Until your writing takes off, it can be hard to find the money that you need to survive. The bills have to be paid somehow, and grant money can help.
Grants are free money that you never have to pay back. There are tons of different grant programs for writers, and if you qualify, you could get the funding you need to survive while you keep honing your craft and working at your passion. Many of these grants are funded by public, nonprofit, and private organizations, such as academic institutions and cultural foundations.
